Delightful :: by Sachiro THF Movie Comp Entry!

2015•12:08

HOW TO SUBMIT A MONTAGE: http://youtu.be/n78HEVr4VqE Dkahre: https://www.youtube.com/user/Snipebetrayal Hey everyone, Omn1science here and we’re once again bringing you another entry from the THF 2014 Movie Competition; Delightful by Sachiro, with gameplay from Dkahre. To start off, we’re treated to a really well done intro showcasing some 3D work that is actually very impressive. I was really impressed with the way Sachiro integrated his Spartan model with stock footage (although I’m not actually sure its stock footage – he may have just created some really fantastic environments). The first song is filled with some really creative effects and transitions, and some fantastic puppet tool scenes. There’s also some seemingly random, fairly well done 3D scenes scattered throughout that end up doing a lot to help pull the meaning of the end of the video together. The editing is almost whimsical, and actually reminds me a lot of Enjoy by Fuzon. The second song starts out with a really cool angle sequence that perfectly matches the music, and continues the theme from the first song. However, there were a few places where the color correction seemed to change almost randomly, and would change to a color correction style that was even more intense than the color correction already being used, and I found it to be a little annoying. Throughout the second song Sachiro continued to cut into 3D/VFX scenes, and while the slow pace of the editing did a lot to alleviate this; I did start to feel that the gameplay was losing a lot of cohesion. Which is a shame because the gameplay was very, very good (I’ll say more about this later). There were also a few 3D scenes that didn’t appear to be textured. I’m not sure if this was supposed to be an artistic choice or if Sachiro just ran out of time due to the competition deadline, but either way I found it a bit distracting. Lastly, the “tribute” part of this video kicks in. I have no doubt that this part will be controversial, but I personally loved it. While I did feel like the 3D could have used a bit more TLC, the overall concept is absolutely genius and does an amazing job of reminding me what this community used to be like in 2006-2009. I don’t think many people who were involved in our community during those years can watch the last minute and a half of this video without feeling something nostalgic. It left me personally feeling similar to the way the end of Legacy did, and I can count the number of montages that have made me feel like that on one hand. Sachiro also did a smart thing in my opinion by integrating some 3D scenes into the body of the video, as it really helped to show what the meaning of the video was when contrasted with the ending. At any rate, I’ll touch a bit on the gameplay now, which I really enjoyed. Once again I’m reminded of Enjoy, because Dkahre managed to deliver both some incredible high multi social clips (241 tast to poc anyone?), but also some really fun and unique mongoose launches, 360 snipes, etc. To see both types of clips delivered side by side is always a joy. Overall, while I did feel like this video had a few flaws, it remains an amazing entry to the competition, and by far the most emotionally evocative video I’ve seen in a long time. ------------------------------------------------------------- The FBW Team: Follow our new Twitter for updates! https://twitter.com/FBWalshyFTWVids Ishii: http://www.youtube.com/TheMLGIshii CheeseCake: http://www.youtube.com/lmCheeseCake Delta: http://www.youtube.com/DeltaNadesU Apple: http://www.youtube.com/AppleFanaticGaming Omn1science: https://www.youtube.com/user/frogpjb Unyshek: https://www.youtube.com/user/Unyshek Transcendently: https://www.youtube.com/user/IncisivelyVids
